Server issues at HIPcomix and MCcomix

Hello everyone. I'm sure many of you have noticed by now that HIPcomix.com and MCcomix.com have been suffering some outages recently. Well, around the time that MCcomix launched, we started noticing some performance problems with the sites' servers - problems that I'm told are unrelated to the addition of the new site. We were hoping that the servers would hold up until we could have a smooth and orderly transition to new hardware which was scheduled to take place the week between Christmas Day and New Year's Day. Of course, as luck would have it, our servers slipped softly into the night a couple of weeks too early.

So, our crew has been working furiously to A) remove the failed servers, B) install new hardware, C), recover files from the old servers and transfer them to the new ones, and D) re-upload whatever content has been lost in the shuffle. As you can imagine, this is a daunting process considering that the two sites combined hold roughly 25,000 individual image files, plus countless text files for the forums and such.

As of this posting the new servers have been installed, the sites are now back up and running, and many of the transfers have been completed. Unfortunately there are still a handful of bugs that need to be worked out before were are back to normal operating conditions. These bugs include missing updates from the members gallery, missing content in the free gallery, and missing posts in the forums. Unfortunately, many of these recent additions have been lost, as the servers were rolled back to the most recent usable backup from late November/early December. We are working to manually re-upload much of that lost content, but some of it - particularly in the forums - simply cannot be recreated exactly the way it was before.

At any rate, we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience these outages have caused, and we hope to have everything running at peak efficiency over the next few days. In the meantime please excuse the mess, and know that customer satisfaction is very important to us and we will do everything we can to have the sites back to normal as soon as possible.

When will you be posting new episodes here?
We await Akonkid's next, Doc and Finn's next ones and others as well.
I realize the downtime really hurt here and at Hipcomix.
I look forward to new stuff soon.

Thanks for the info, Doc. I'm sure that nobody was more frustrated by the outage than you were, and we appreciate your efforts to get things fixed!
